About Ellen White Sustainable Foundation
Ellen White Sustainable Foundation is a legally incorporated non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in Techiman, in the Bono East Region of Ghana. Our vision is to mobilize and build the knowledge of women, girls, boys, and other voiceless persons and groups to counter the growing threat of abuse, violence against women and girls, and gender-based discrimination.
We strive to ensure gender equality for inclusive and sustainable community, local, and national development, creating a society where every individual can thrive free from violence and discrimination.

Empowerment on Abuse
To empower women, adolescent girls and boys, children, and other vulnerable individuals and communities on various forms of abuse, discrimination, and gender-based violence.
Access to Programs
To empower individuals and communities on various government programs and opportunities in health, education, and other sectors to increase personal development and reduce abuse.
Cultural Norms Change
To work with local authorities and community leaders to change social and cultural norms, as well as behaviors that promote abuse, discrimination, and violence against women and girls.
Livelihood Skills Training
To provide livelihood skills training for Basic School girls and boys, survivors of gender-based violence, including child mothers, for self-reliance and reduced vulnerability.
Advocacy for Policies
To advocate for national policies and programs that address abuse, discrimination, and various forms of gender-based violence against women, girls, and other marginalized individuals and groups.
Meet Our Founder: Ellen White
Founder & Executive Director
Ellen White is a dedicated Child Rights Advocate, Activist, Philanthropist, and the Girls’ Education Officer for Techiman Municipal in the Bono East Region of Ghana. With a Master of Philosophy in Administration and Leadership and certificates in Public Relations, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, and Criminal Law, Ellen brings a wealth of expertise to her work.
Her extensive experience includes serving as a research assistant to Bielefeld University, Germany, on child abuse and coordinating donor-funded interventions for national NGOs like UNFPA, Oxfam, and the EU. Her relentless efforts have led to significant achievements, including foiling child marriages, rescuing victims, and supporting child mothers to return to school.
Recognized with the JOYNEWS IMPACT MAKERS AWARD in 2023, Ellen continues to be a driving force for women's and girls' empowerment, making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable communities across Ghana.
Our Tangible Impact: Key Results
- Many potential child marriages foiled and 16 child marriage victims rescued since 2019.
- 33 child mothers encouraged to return to school since 2021.
- 9 girls provided with bicycles to ease long-distance school travel.
- Ongoing provision of basic needs for 20 vulnerable girls in school.
- Reintegrated 4 'kayayes' (head potters) back into school.
- Successfully fixed a borehole in the Dentekrom community.
- Organized Girls / Women Empowerment Projects with skills training.
- Organizing free breast cancer screenings annually for SHS girls.
- Effective radio and community sensitization campaigns leading to minimized abuse cases and teenage pregnancy.
